Carrier VoIP
Call required
Comcast Business VoiceEdge
SIP setup
Comcast Business VoiceEdge supports BYOD SIP, but Comcast treats it as a provisioning change that requires a technician's attention. No self-service.
Why the call is required
Comcast's admin portal does not expose SIP credentials. You must call Business Voice Support and ask for a 'SIP device provisioning' change ticket.
Before the call
What to do first

Note your account details
Grab your Comcast Business account number from your latest bill, and the extension number you want the AI to answer.

Call Business Voice Support
Phone: 1-800-391-3000. Reference VoiceEdge + SIP BYOD provisioning. Budget 2-5 business days, this often routes to a field engineer.
Script for the call
Say this when support picks up
- I have a VoiceEdge account and I'd like to register one of my extensions with a third-party SIP client, specifically an AI voice receptionist.
- Please create a BYOD device provisioning ticket. I need the SIP registration URL, the SIP extension username, and the SIP password for one dedicated extension.
- Please also confirm there's no ACL or IP-anchor policy on my tenant that would block registration from a cloud host.
Watch out for
- If your Comcast product is 'Business Class Voice' or a regular coax voice line, SIP BYOD is NOT available, no matter who you talk to. You need VoiceEdge specifically.
- Comcast has been moving tenants to the 'VoiceEdge Cloud' platform; older VoiceEdge Premier (based on Broadsoft) has slightly different credentials. The script above works for both.
